Coming around again

Phew. What a start to the new year.

I was bed ridden for three to four days, my body was aching like life was being squeezed out of it and body temperature that was high and would refuse to subside. The first course of antibiotics were not doing its job so the doctor decided to prescribe the big guns. And then the persistent fever worried the doctor and asked that I go for a blood test at his clinic. Which I did.

Please imagine this. My body was still achy. My fever was still up. Blood has to be drawn. I hate needles and my veins are really too small for drawing blood, I swear. So after moving my arms up and down for like 5 mins, the doctor finally found a vein and told me all he needed was 3ml. Easy peasy.

Only, in the midst of putting the need in my arm, he declared the vein was too fine and the whole process might take longer than expected. He was lucky I was too drugged out to quickly figured out that the pain would be prolonged and too drowsy to scream.

The blood test was negative, thank God. I was really praying that it wouldn't be dengue because I didn't want to be hospitalised. And God answered my prayers, yay!

So in the end, it was just a bad case of infection and with the new antibiotics, and fever medicine and the 10,000 other medication, I was well enough to start enjoying the new year.

Although coming back to work after that week-long sickness presented another kind of sickness... to be continued.

I had dengue a couple years ago, so I know what that's like. :P Glad you're up and about. That's worth an "alhamdulillah," at least.

Absolutely! And you know, when I was all drugged out, one of the things that kept playing in my mind was the hadith that reminded us to be mindful of our health before we become sick...or something close to that. Sigh. All God had to do was raise our body temperature by 1 or 2 deg and we'd all out of whack. Altogether now, Subhanallah!
