I am cranky today. Especially after my 15min call with the American Express Corporate Card call center.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw a $60 late payment in my statement. So I rang them up, spoke to a very chirpy operator only to be told that Amex charged me that amount because I was late in paying my last bill by 2 days. But get this, I counter argued saying that the deadline for payment was on a Friday, but I made payment on Monday so infact, the 2 days were over a weekend. But she stuck to her guns and said she could not cancel the late charge because I was late for 2 bloody days. You.Have.Got.To.Be.Joking.
My blood pressure shot up by a couple of notches when this super happy operator kept repeating what I was telling her and going back to her point of how she can't cancel the charge (this, by the way, in communications lingo is termed 'bridging' although in this instance, badly executed). She was getting increasingly happy while I started to feel my head pounding. In the end, I told the operator to get her manager to call me, and was told one would call me tomorrow morning.
I just don't get Amex. I wonder if they realise that there are people out there who are using their corp. card because it's mandated, not out of freewill. I mean, I *have* to use their card because it is my company's corporate card. And so I have NO choice but to use it on corporate travels and purchases. Shouldn't they then adopt a more friendly and accommodating stance? Why make things worse by making an enemy of someone who's not a fan, to begin with?
And just so I am clear, this happens everytime I ring them up. My contact with Amex Corp Card are always unpleasant. Aargh.
I miss the husband. He's in India for work until this Sunday. If he were here, I'd be ranting and raving and he'd make me feel better. Sob.
