I'm back with Yoga and I loves it muchly. I usually consider proximity and schedule before I sign up for a gym membership. The all-ladies gym that I am with for example, is five minutes away from my home.
So when I moved to this new job and saw there is a yoga studio in the same building, I went to check them out. The clincher was when I saw they have morning sessions starting from 7am. Almost perfect for a morning person like me.
So I went for my first class at this studio this morning. I opted for Hatha Yoga because this is the easiest. All the postures do not demand that you contort your body into a human twister. I sweat buckets, as much as during my kick boxing classes.
Fifteen minutes into the class, my muscles started to tremble and I could literally feel my muscles stretch and burn. And the yogi at the class - fortunately or unfortunately for me - is not the type who remain contented sitting on his platform just showing the postures. He got down to the class and corrected our postures. He pushed my back so much so that for the first time, my nose was on the floor as we did one of the floor posture. Yes, that's right. Major stretch.
Yoga will not replace my regular kick boxing sessions though. It's a nice complement. I like the intensity of my kick boxing class as we "attack" our imagined opponent with kicks, jabs and uppercuts. And I like yoga for the almost opposite reasons. For its temperate movements and demands on concentration.
Afterall, I need the flexibility to execute a flawless roundhouse kick!

you and my wife same but she prefers pilates.
she LOVES kickboxing like you though.
for a wannabe nak muay, i'm very fortunate.
hi jay: the studio i'm with i think it's not too bad. but might be more expensive compared to other studios which are not right smack in the middle of the CBD. I started yoga from the community clubs, you might want to check them out, too.
ronin: i tried pilates but it just didn't do it for me... hey different strokes for different folks :) i love the adrenaline during and after kick boxing.
