We came back from our super short weekend getaway - which was really nice. My mother-in-law ignored me most of the time but I am super coooool with that. Whatevs. Anyhow I spent Monday morning shopping by myself and quickly got out of Orchard Road by 12 noon when the crazy lunch crowd starts to build up.
And then it was back to work and shoot, work doesn't stop, does it? The drama then started on Wednesday when Danial had some kind of allergic reaction when I was at work. One of my SILs who was at my place entertaining the kids (they are still on term break) took him to the doctor because it looked like just hives. He was given some promethazine and calamine lotion. I got home at about 6pm and realised that his face was starting to swell up. Took him to another GP - our regular doctor - and he was given three anti histamines, some paracetamol for the fever and that was that. The next evening, I came home from work again and saw that the swelling has not subsided even after five doses of three different types of anti histamines and brought him back to the same GP. By that time, Danial was having trouble breathing. The GP took one look and said we need to get to the nearest A&E department and wrote us a letter.
Because the husband is not in town, I had the glorious job of explaining the hospital trip to Danial who's all in tears (he is afraid of needles, like me) and then another round of explanation to the two girls who were also then in tears. Shoot, I had to bite my lip to stop my own tears.
We spent, oh, just freaking five hours at the A&E department even though the children's emergency department is almost empty save for two crying babies and a girl who couldn't control her drool. Two consultations and a chest x-ray later, we were sent on our merry way with what I would describe as industrial strength anti histamine and antibiotics and more paracetamol. All that for a low, low cost of $100 after 50% government subsidy.
So Danial is recuperating. I've been meticulous with his dosage and timing which means I don't get more than 4 hours of sleep at night.
All this and still able to tell some farkwits at work to fark off quite politely. I think I deserve a darn medal. Give it to me. NOW.
