I mean, we have a terrorist at large. He escaped from a detention center which according to people who are familiar with detention centers and jails and those similar child-unfriendly places, it's a shocker that something like this has happened. Least of all, in Singa-efficient-pore!
What I'm observing as well is the sense of all-is-right, nothing-to-be-worried about attitude that I'm seeing around me. Nevermind the guy who escaped is the leader (did I say, leader? yes, he was/is the leader) of a terrorist cell. Nevermind there were evidence that he was planning to hijack a plane and crash it into Changi Airport. And it'll be a week tomorrow since his big escape. I don't know about you but I am just about freaking out.
And then I have to read about Malay Muslims being singled out and given a pat on our back by a minister who thinks it is heartening that the community is taking a lead in the search. How are we taking the lead? I read about a Malay Muslim leader who activated his folks at the mosque. Could he be referring to that effort? I can't be sure. But I sure feel like the minister had to let everyone know we are pulling our weight on this thing. Like the community is taking responsibility for this.
Maybe I'm just in a foul mood.
