When you have lots of deadlines looming, but you choose to drive out to the city have lunch with a friend, and then sign up on Facebook and start looking for friends to invite? And then send multiple sms to your husband who is in India and you know he is probably still asleep but still get upset that he has not sms-ed you back. And then have a long IM chat with another friend about the state of your career and her career and why you drove to meet that friend and not her. And then you update your blog because you know, you really have a lot of deadlines today.
This behaviour is called avoidance, deeply linked to terminal procrastination. I need a holiday.

Trust me. I know what you are talking about. I had a 10 page research paper due today by noon and I stayed up till 2am clicking on the results I got for "bilingual jobs." I ended up applying to be a baggage handler and falling asleep on the floor at 430 and waking up to check my email and text message. Don't worry though. I got that paper turned in by 1130. It just wasnt as refined as I would have liked...
Hear, hear! Procrastinators of the world, UNITE! :D
Unite? i'll think about it. Perhaps tomorrow. or the week after?
