Ramadan is here, and I feel blessed to be in its presence again. It's a mix of happiness and sadness. Happiness because I am given a chance to have this gift again this year and take advantage of the holiness of the month.
But a bit of sadness because today, Baby Lisa left us. She left us while I was carrying her at 34 weeks...almost full term, but it was not meant to be. We buried her today, exactly six years ago and I miss her still, every single day.
I know God promises ease after hardship and after that sad incident, I saw the care and love of the people around me and the support that they gave to me. And, I have further been been blessed with another baby girl and yet another girl who herself lost her mum.
So anyway, back to Ramadan. If you're fasting, I hope we make the best use of Ramadan. And if you're not, don't chew or gulp too loudly...just kidding!
========== UPDATE ==========
Last night, Mr and Mrs Bhutia experienced the terrible tremors from their apartment. The tremors were the result of an earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia.
I was in the office early this morning and I felt the tremors around 7.50am for a few minutes. Another colleague who also happened to be early, felt it and we both ran down the stairs and waited out for 10mins before we headed back to our desks. This is some scary s*&t. Early news reports can be found here.
So, at the start of Ramadan, I am reminded again of how fragile life is. Please do send a prayer or two to those who have lost family and homes to the quakes last night and this morning.
