Ramadan-gram

The guys at Ummah Films are really good. I love love love their videos. So, while we are at the topic of bad habits during Ramadan; here are mine (the list is actually longer but hey, I get to choose what I post on my blog...phew).

1. I keep telling myself and the husband that we would get our house in order prior to Ramadan. That includes spring cleaning, repairing what needs to be repaired, touching-up on what needs touching-up. But again, this year, the husband and I are doing all of these DURING Ramadan. Actually more me than him since he's scooting off to Tokyo and India next week for the next two weeks. Aargh.

2. I also keep telling myself that I would get new clothes for the kids for Eid/Aidilfitri before Ramadan. I hate the crowds. And I'd rather be at home than out on Geylang Serai or the malls when I'm fasting. But nope, I didn't get that done either. Sheesh. By the way, my kids never get to see the lights at Geylang Serai because their mum hates crowded places.

But, I am determined to finish all of these chores by next week, when I'm at home. The company I'm with closes its financial year at the end of September and everyone has to use up their annual leave before the financial year is up. Whilst HR said I couldn't take leave in the first three months in the job, in my fourth month, I realised I have five days to clear. Whatevs. I'm using that time to get my act together.

That'll free me up the rest of Ramadan to focus on the real and important stuff - like the Qur'an (plus reading the translation) and prayers.

Re: cleaning; I busted my tail the last weekend before Ramadan to clean up our flat just so we wouldn't have to do it again until just before Ramadan ends (and everyone comes over). Turned out to be a great decision.

Re: Geylang Serai. I don't mind going there so much in Ramadan, although I'd prefer to go there at night, rather than in the day. (When I can eat and drink. :) ) Still, Milady and I have already gone over there, and I picked up a nice black baju kurong and two sarongs for Eid.
