You have to laugh...
Colleague: Hey, you guys have starting fasting right?
Me: Yes, us Muslims have started fasting. Ramadan started last Thursday.
Colleague: No way! Wow, you must be so hungry and tired! It's been what, four days now?
Me: I'm okay in the morning, but yeah, I do get a bit tired in the afternoon.
Colleague: How does it feel like to have no food for one month?
Me: No food for one month?
Colleague: Yeah, you guys don't eat for a month, right?
Me: We fast from sunrise to sunset and that means no food and water. The rest of the time, we eat and drink.
Colleague: Wow! Thanks for telling me that. I thought you guys don't eat for the entire month of Ramadan!
Me: Dude, what were you thinking? That won't be called fasting, that would be called starvation.

I haven't had any conversations quite that...ummm...unusual. On Thursday, I did get asked by the security guard of our building (a Hindu man, I believe) whether that day was the start of Ramadan. I told him "yes," of course.
I've developed a light hacking cough; I'll prolly develop my usual "Ramadan cold." :(
In the spirit of Ramadan, I've cut him some slack. He's new to the region and has had no contact with Muslims prior to me. Patience is not by strength but am working on it. Although thank goodness I think I have a pretty good sense of humour.
My entire family is developing a cough too...I think it's a bit of a dry throat maybe...
