Lunch, anyone?

This new company that I'm with, is not really small. It's a multi-billion dollar company and it's spread over two buildings in Singapore. We've all got big nice desks and my work area is big enough for my kids to play hide and seek.

So maybe because my peers and I have such a big personal space, we don't get into each other's way or find it necessary to make small talk with each other. We all do different things, we are always on the phone or working on our computer that the office banter I've been so used to, is sorely missing. And when lunch time comes, everyone makes their own plans and go on their own merry way.

And so, the social creature that I am, I find myself eating lunch by myself most of the time. For someone who used to have many lunch partners to choose from, it's been quite a humbling (and lonely!) experience. It's no fun to eat at my desk not because I'm rushing to meet a deadline, but just because there's no one to lunch with.

I can't wait for my car to be delivered. I bought a car since I need one to get to work - the husband has been kind enough to drive me to work and pick me up after whenever he can. When he can't, I have to cough up $25 on taxi, and that is just insane.

Anyway, when I get my car, at least I could drive to my parents'. They live 10mins away from my office. I would then have some company at lunch (and for some great free food, too), and also for prayer. At least that's what I'm looking forward to.

Babes, lemme tell u, WE MISS YA TOO! But you know once you get that car, it'll get better. Cos your new colleagues will want to drive out for lunch and you have a car. Oh the push and pull factor! You'll be a winner, like you were here.

Miss ya! Miss ya! Miss ya!

Babes, everyone in the office drives so my having my own wheels is not such a big draw. But you know, for what it's worth, at least I would have the option of driving all the way to the east to see you guys. I miss you too! I hope you had a wonderful birthday.
