And it feels good!
I was supposed to start work on May 2 but since I was still recovering from the "health-related" issue that I blogged about, I decided to postpone my grand entrance (as if) by a week.
The kids are now so used to having me at home that when I told them I would be going to my new office tomorrow, they went "huh?". It was interesting to tell them that although the workplace is new, the work is not. They didn't get it at first. But the magic words worked, "I get paid slightly more money, kiddies."
So after the initial shock and then celebratory ice cream all around, they started to ponder about my new job. I was bombarded by questions, some I hadn't even thought about.
Q: "What's the new company called again?"
A: [insert company's name]
Q: "Would you be typing in front of the computer still?"
A: "Mmmm, yes."
Q: "Do you have to wear a uniform?"
A: "No, I still get to wear the same office clothes I've been wearing."
Q: "What if your new colleagues don't like you?"
A: "What's there not to love?" (Gulp!)
Q: "What if you don't like your new colleagues?"
A: "They are OK, I'm sure I'll like them" (Will I??)
Q: "Will you be lonely since Auntie P (aka Mrs Bhutia) will not be with you at the office?
A: "Yes, I will miss her, but Auntie P and I have been friends long before we worked together so we will still get to see her and the girls."
Q: "Is your new boss nice?"
A: "Yes, she is."
So where did these questions led me? To nervousness and anxiety that were well suppressed.
Wish me luck!!
