Hunting

We are house-hunting, everyone! Quite exciting for me! The idea of living in a new place with new furniture (I hope!) is tripping me like Michael Phelps was tripping on...oops, nevermind.

We have been looking at some possibilities the past couple of months as prices on some developments have been coming down sharp and nasty. And we think it's a good time to look at buying another property as we only have a couple of years' mortgage on our current apartment. So we think the stars are starting to align in our favour.

This Sunday, we've asked for my SIL, who's also a property agent (anyone who needs a trustworthy and hardworking agent, drop me a mail!) for a couple of houses to view. My requirements are very simple - it has to be near a train station (we don't want to be next to it, just within walking distance), primary schools for the two chickadees to go (again, walking distance would be ideal), near a suburb mall so that it's easy for us to run out and get a pack of salt or sugar or anything we might need, and it has to be a low-rise development. Simple requirements, eh?

We've done our maths and we know how much we can afford and will approach various banks to see the loan amount we can get and who can give the best rates. The do-our-maths-before-we-view-and-fall-madly-in-love-with-houses-we-see is the husband's way of keeping me on the straight and narrow.

We are taking the kiddies and the helper to see these houses as I want them to be fully involved - after all, they would be living there, too. Wheeeeee!
