Change we must

Many changes from next week onwards.

The husband and I had been talking about pulling Sara out of the student care center for a couple of days. Nothing against the center because Farah attended this center in the past. We just think the long hours are just too much for Sara (she leaves the house at 7am and comes home from school at 6.30pm). And because she learns differently from other kids, we think one-on-one coaching would help her more.

I have been on a look-out for a tutor since we've been contemplating the withdrawal but the entire thing became urgent for me when Sara came home from school last evening, crying because "her head hurts" and fell asleep in tears, on the couch, in her school uniform. I had to wake her up at 9.30pm so that she could have some dinner. After a quick dinner, she finished off her school homework before promptly going back to bed.

So, in lightning-speed timing, the plan has been put to action. I have now confirmed a tutor who could come on weekday mornings for an hour daily. Sara can spend that additional hour or two before she heads off to school by playing or relaxing. The TV is off-limits and the helper has been told to enforce. Revisions will be done by yours truly on the weekends. Insha Allah this arrangement will work out better.

At least Sara seems pleased when I told her this morning that today will be her last day at the center. Her first words to me were "it means I can sleep more hours right, mummy?". Sigh. It also means we lose our one-month deposit because we were supposed to give a month's notice period to the center. But hey, my kid's health and happiness are definitely worth much more.
