Of celebration and reflection

I'm back now. The projects are now over, and I am re-focusing on business as usual activities. Which means, things are more mundane but no less hectic.

Woke up this morning to see the screaming headlines of big name companies laying off 90,000 jobs worldwide. Scary is an understatement.

As I open my email after a 2-day break for Chinese New Year, I saw a flurry of email about how we need to keep our head above water and seize the opportunity to do better than the competition. Now's the time to take share and grow revenue because the competition is too distracted by having to keep afloat. And then there was another flurry on increasing productivity. I'm thankful I have a job still that I enjoy doing that helps provide the nice extras to the family.

And so, I think everyone would need to pitch in and do their best to ensure they contribute to their company's success in this trying times. Befitting with the Year of the Ox, no? A stable and hardworking beast that keeps toiling the field to ensure its master is successful. Because, to be alive and working is better than to be dead and cooked in rendang.

Back to the grind, folks!
