Tomorrow is a public holiday in Singapore. Most people have also taken Friday off to have a nice long weekend. Not for me. There is a rule in some corporate HR law that says thou who just joineth hath no leave to taketh.
The kids though, they will be taken by my in-laws to Melaka with all their cousins. My both sisters-in-law and my parents in-law are driving up tonight so that the kids have four days of fun and games. The kids are having a month-long term break so all their cousins will be at this big do. The husband and I will join them on Friday evening, after work.
When I first told the kids that they had the option of driving up with the in-laws on Wed evening or driving up with us on Fri evening, I could see that they were torn. Farah was wringing her hands trying to decide and Danial and Sara cried because they think they will miss us too much to be away from us for two days. But a decision had to be made and it was made. They decided to go with their cousins so that they don't miss out on the movies, the picnics and the barbecues.
As they get over their dilemma and tears, I have to deal with mine. I asked the husband if his family will take good care of our kids. I hope they won't be dismissive of the kids' requests. I hope they will read Sara a book before she sleeps. I hope they will rub Vicks on their tummy if they had a tummy ache.
But most of all, I hope the kids will have lots of fun. And I hope they will miss me as much as I will miss them.

i dunno whthr im as brave as you. there's no doubt i still dun trust the kid w the in-laws.
am i bad?
Hey, you're not bad person for feeling that! Trust has to be earned :) My in-laws are actually nice people and I still have those reservations. I think this is a mummy-thing, we instinctively want to protect our kid/s.
My kids have been away for two nights and from the sound of it, they are having too much fun to miss me. Good and bad, if u know
what I mean :)
PS: Your little tyke is soo cute, especially with those teeny weeny Nike shoes on!
i guess u're right. its just the mummy-thingy thing mode im in at the moment. im new at this, so i hope they dnt feel the pinch or think im lokek or wat.
heh. That Nike shoe is soo keras. I somehow have to push it in into his tiny feet. i think he hates it secretly! heh.
