From Dec 7 onwards, I will temporarily be assuming a new job. The helper is going away for a week-long home leave and I have taken leave from work to be a stay-at-home-mum. I say that with a bit of trepidation because SAHMs have the hardest job in the world.
Which other job demands you to work 24/7 and does not give you a pay cheque at the end of the month? Which other job goes unnoticed and unrecognised when done well and when not, attracts unwelcomed attention?
Keeping three kids occupied (they are having term break from school before the new term starts Jan 2), and handling housework will require some dexterity and careful planning. The husband, who will be away for a couple of days during that week, has asked me what I'd be doing for meals. I don't know, I haven't cooked for a very long time, but I think it would be fun to rediscover it. And if all else fails, there's always take-outs! But eeks, the laundry. I loath doing the laundry but a house with a pile of dirty clothes is even more annoying.
We'll be going away for our holiday for a few days as well in that week, so we have that to look forward to.
Wish me luck; will need lots of it.
